The Brazilian Society of Cardiology (BSC) is a professional non-profit medical association dedicated to improving cardiovascular health through education, research, prevention and treatment. The BSC represents over 11,000 cardiologists in Brazil and is the largest cardiovascular society in Latin America. The BSC is an active member of the World Heart Federation and plays a leading role in regional initiatives to address the burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
In Brazil, CVD is the leading cause of death, accounting for nearly one third of all deaths. Despite this burden, CVD mortality has declined significantly in recent years due largely to advances in prevention and treatment. The BSC has been at the forefront of these efforts, working to raise awareness about CVD risk factors and promote healthy lifestyles. The BSC has also played a key role in expanding access to quality care for those with CVD. Through its work, the BSC is helping to build a healthier future for all Brazilians.
