Delft University of Technology is a public research university in Delft, Netherlands. It is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious engineering schools in the world with alumni that include Nobel laureates and CEOs of multi-national corporations. The university was founded in 1842 by King William II of the Netherlands as a Royal Academy for the education of civil servants. Its primary mission was to train engineers for work in the Dutch East Indies (present day Indonesia). Since then, it has evolved into a leading research university with nine faculties covering various fields of science and engineering.

The Delft University of Technology offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in a wide range of disciplines including: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, applied sciences, architecture, and management. As one of the largest technical universities in Europe, TU Delft has over 19,000 students from more than 100 countries, making it one of the most international universities in the world. The university is affiliated with eight Nobel Prize winners, thirty-six Spinoza Prize winners, fourteen Field Medalists, eleven Turing Award winners, eighty-five Guggenheim Fellowships, two Pritzker Architecture Prize winners. Additionally sixty-three membersof staff or former staff have been elected to membership of the Royal Netherlands Academy Sciences or Arts.(RNAScA).
