Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) is a world-renowned research and teaching institution specializing in natural sciences and engineering, located in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. With its main campus situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, EPFL has been consistently ranked as one of the top 20 universities in the world by various international rankings.

Founded in 1853 as a polytechnic school, EPFL was initially created to provide technical education for the growing Swiss industrial economy. However, over the years it has transformed into a leading research university, with around 13% of its students coming from outside of Switzerland. The university is currently organized into eight faculties: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science & Communication Systems, Earth Sciences & Environmental Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mathematics & Physics and Life Sciences.

EPFL’s reputation is built on the excellence of its faculty and students as well as the quality of its research. In 2019, EPFL was ranked 1st in Europe and 4th globally for “ employability ” according to THE University Impact Rankings . This reflects not only our graduates’ outstanding job placement rate but also their high level of satisfaction with their studies at EPFL (93%). Moreover , 91%of our alumni would recommend EPFL to prospective students – one of the highest percentages among all surveyed institutions .

But employability is just one aspect of what makes EPFL such an attractive choice for ambitious young people from all over the world. Our proximity to some of Europe’s most vibrant cities – Geneva , Zurich , Basel , Bern – gives our students access to an incredible range of cultural experiences . And our location in one of the most beautiful countries on earth doesn’t hurt either!

The quality of life that our students enjoy while studying at EPFL is reflected in our low dropout rate : just 3%of undergraduate students leave before completing their degree . This compares very favorably with other leading universities where Drop out rates can be as high as 30%.

So if you are looking for an intellectually stimulating environment where you can prepare yourself for an exciting future career , Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne may be just what you are looking for!
