Kanazawa University (Japan) is one of the leading universities in Japan. It was founded in 1949 as Kanazawa Medical College. In 2004, the name was changed to Kanazawa University. The university has two campuses: Kakuma and Takamatsu. There are eight faculties: Faculty of Letters, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Systems Science and Technology. In addition, there are two graduate schools: Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology.

The university has about 8,000 students enrolled in its undergraduate programs and about 3,000 in its graduate programs. The number of international students is increasing every year. Currently, there are more than 1,000 international students from over 70 countries studying at Kanazawa University.

Kanazawa University is well-known for its research achievements in a wide range of fields such as medicine, engineering, and humanities. The university has produced many Nobel Prize winners including Kenichi Fukui (Chemistry), Ryōji Noyori (Chemistry), Osamu Shimomura (Physiology or Medicine), Shinya Yamanaka (Physiology or Medicine). In addition to these Nobel laureates, the university has also produced many noted researchers who have made significant contributions to their respective fields such as Akira Suzuki (Chemistry), Hiroshi Amano (Physics), Shūichi Ikeda (Medicine), Susumu Kitagawa (Materials Science), Takeshi Nitta (Biology).

The university provides an ideal environment for learning and research with state-of-the-art facilities such as the Central Library, which has a collection of over 1 million books; the Museum Of Contemporary Art; the Institute for Advanced Studies on Asia; and the 21st Century COE Program “Center for Education and Research on Human Security”.
