NYIT (New York Institute of Technology) is a private research university with two main campuses in New York state, one in Old Westbury and one in Manhattan. NYIT also has a global network of over 90,000 alumni. The university offers more than 90 undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs in 50 fields of study, including engineering, architecture, information technology, management, medical sciences, communication arts, design, and education.

Founded in 1955, NYIT was established to provide career-oriented education to meet the needs of New York City’s burgeoning technological workforce. Today NYIT enrolls over 9300 students from all 50 states and 100 countries. The student body is approximately evenly split between men and women.

NYIT is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and numerous other professional accrediting organizations. The Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET has accredited all of NYIT’s engineering programs. In addition to its regional accreditations, several of NYIT’s programs hold specialized programmatic accreditations.

The faculty at NYIT are experts in their respective fields with many holding terminal degrees such as the Doctor of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degree. The average class size at NYIT is twenty five students which allows for personal interaction between professors and students both inside and outside the classroom setting. Additionally, over 85% percent of classes are taught by full-time faculty members ensuring that students receive consistent instruction throughout their coursework at NYIT
