A person who is offline is not connected to the Internet. They may be connected to a local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN), but they are not able to access the World Wide Web or other Internet services. An offline person may be using a computer, phone, or other device that is not connected to the Internet.
The term “offline” can also refer to being disconnected from a particular service, such as email, chat, or newsgroups. When someone says they will be “offline for a while,” they mean they will not be accessible via that service for some period of time.
