A smartphone is a type of cell phone that offers more advanced computing and connectivity than a basic feature phone. They typically have larger displays, higher-resolution cameras, and more built-in features and applications than feature phones. In addition, smartphones allow you to connect to the internet and run third-party apps. Smartphones are available from a variety of manufacturers, including Apple, Samsung, Google, Motorola, BlackBerry, HTC, LG, Sony, and Nokia.

Smartphones are often referred to as “pocket computers” because they offer many of the same capabilities as personal computers. For example, you can use a smartphone to check email; surf the web; download music, movies, and games; take photos and videos; stay connected with social media; track your fitness activity; manage your finances; and much more. Most smartphones also come with GPS capabilities that allow you to use turn-by-turn directions when driving or walking. And many smartphones now offer NFC (near field communication) technology that allows you to make payments by waving your phone in front of a compatible reader.
