University Of Johannesburg

The University of Johannesburg, located in South Africa, is one of the leading research and teaching institutions on the African continent. It is also one of the largest universities in South Africa, with over 40,000 students enrolled. The university has a strong commitment to social justice and equity, and its research focus includes areas such as health, education, environment, and poverty alleviation.

The University of Johannesburg was established in 2005 through the merger of several smaller institutions. These include the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU), the Technikon Witwatersrand (TWR), and the Vista University campuses in Soweto and East Rand. The merger was part of a government initiative to create “world-class” universities in South Africa that would be able to compete internationally.

Since its establishment, the university has rapidly grown in size and reputation. It now has six faculties: Economics and Finance; Education; Engineering and Built Environment; Health Sciences; Humanities; Law; Management Sciences; Science; and Social Sciences. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as numerous research opportunities.

The University of Johannesburg is an important contributor to South Africa’s economy and society. Its graduates are highly sought after by employers, both local and international. The university is also actively involved in community outreach initiatives, such as providing access to higher education for underprivileged communities.
