Acoustical Society of America (ASA)

The Acoustical Society of America (ASA) is a professional society devoted to the advancement of acoustics, the science and technology related to sound. Founded in 1929, it has more than 7,000 members from over 70 countries around the world. The ASA’s mission is “to generate, disseminate and promote the knowledge and practical applications of acoustics” through its publications and conferences. It also serves as a forum for scientists interested in acoustics-related fields such as psychoacoustics, speech perception, noise control engineering, architectural acoustics and musical acoustics.

The ASA publishes two journals: The Journal of Acoustic Society of America (JASA), which covers all aspects of acoustic research; and Applied Acoustic Quarterly (AAQ), which focuses on applied research related to industry needs. In addition to these magazines, several special interest groups within ASA focus on specific topics including underwater acoustic communication systems or medical ultrasound imaging among others. It also hosts five major international meetings per year: three in North America; one in Europe; and another one in Asia-Pacific region every odd year—all dedicated exclusively to advancing theory & practice related with sound propagation & generation for different purposes such as health care diagnostics or entertainment production technologies respectively.

In addition to educational activities such as lectures by guest speakers at their regular meetings or seminars organized by their local chapters throughout the US/Canada regions each year, ASA provides numerous awards that recognize excellence amongst their members either for technical achievements or student scholarship programs aimed at encouraging new talents into this field from both academic & industrial backgrounds alike . They also offer fellowships & grants for graduate students looking forward developing independent projects either through universities or private companies associated with any kind of work linked with sound science/engineering development initiatives worldwide —thus proving ideal opportunities for aspiring researchers willing to jump start careers based upon theoretical knowledge combined with hands-on experience gained during these experiences themselves before entering full time employment afterwards if desired so accordingly.. Finally they run an annual outreach program where volunteers visit schools across USA helping teachers introducing basic principles related with waves physics – enabling young minds explore advantages associated while manipulating them properly allowing our society move ahead according technological progress achieved nowadays thus far…
