American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA)
The American Society of Anesthesiologists is a professional organization for anesthesiology professionals in the United States. Founded in 1905, it currently has over 52,000 members and is one of the largest medical specialty organizations in the country. Its mission is to advance patient safety, quality care and scientific practice through education, research and advocacy. The organization also works to promote public awareness about anesthesiology as well as recognize achievements within the field of anesthesia.
The ASA offers various programs and services such as educational opportunities, publications on topics related to anesthesiology, clinical practice guidelines, continuing medical education courses and seminars among many others. It also provides resources for students pursuing careers in medicine or health-related fields with emphasis on anesthesia-related subjects like pain management techniques or pharmacology.
