Association for Psychological Science (APS) is an international organization dedicated to the advancement of psychological science. Founded in 1988, APS represents psychology in the United States and abroad, including researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students. APS promotes scientific inquiry and discovery by supporting research funding, communicating psychological science to the public, advocating for science-based policy making, and providing resources for psychologists.
APS members receive a subscription to the society’s award-winning journal Psychological Science and access to member-only benefits such as discounts on conferences and publications. The society also publishes six other peer-reviewed journals: Psychological Science in the Public Interest; Advances in Methods and Practices in Psychological Science; Current Directions in Psychological Science; Perspectives on Psychological Science; Emotion Review; and Group Processes & Intergroup Relations. In addition, APS produces several newsletters: Footnotes (for members), Observatory (for journalists), Psychology & Policy Insider (for policymakers), Research Spotlight (for funders),and Society News(for everyone).
The Association for Psychological Science is committed to advancing scientific psychology across domains and disciplines through its many initiatives aimed at supporting psychological scientists at every stage of their careers. These include awards and fellowships recognizing outstanding contributions to psychological science; grants supporting innovative research; opportunities for early-career psychologists to get involved with APS governance; programs promoting diversity within the field of psychological science; resources for teaching psychology at all levels; advocacy efforts aimed at protecting psychological science from undue political interference; convenings bringing together experts from multiple perspectives to discuss pressing issues facing our field; media relations work highlighting cutting-edge research findings to broad audiences around the world; educational outreach initiatives designed to engage laypeople with psychological science so that they can apply these insights in their everyday lives.
The goal of all these activities is simple: To ensure that psychological science flourishes now and into the future!
