The Botanical Society of America (BSA) is an American professional organization for botanists. It was founded in 1893 and its charter members included Charles Sprague Sargent, John Merle Coulter, Liberty Hyde Bailey, and George Lincoln Goodale. The BSA publishes the peer-reviewed journal Botany, sponsors an annual meeting each summer, and engages in various educational outreach programs.
The BSA maintains close ties with affiliated societies such as the Ecological Society of America and the American Institute of Biological Sciences. The society also works with international partners such as the International Union of Biological Sciences and the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation.
The current president of the BSA is Kathleen Treseder (University of California, Irvine). As of 2019, there are more than 6500 members of the society.
