Case Western Reserve University is a private research university in Cleveland, Ohio. The university was created in 1967 by the federation of Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University. Case Western Reserve is one of the nation’s leading research institutions, with over $600 million in annual research funding and more than 3,000 full-time faculty members across 10 schools and colleges. The university is also home to the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, which is affiliated with the university’s School of Medicine.

Case Western Reserve University is consistently ranked among the top universities in the United States for both undergraduate and graduate education. The university has been ranked as high as #12 on U.S. News & World Report’s list of best national universities and #37 on Forbes’ list of America’s top colleges. In addition, Case Western Reserve was named a “Best Value” school by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine and one of only 50 “New Ivies” by Newsweek magazine.

The university offers over 200 academic programs across 10 schools and colleges: Arts and Sciences, Dental Medicine, Engineering, Law, Management, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Continuing Education & Professional Studies, and Weatherhead School of Management. Case Western Reserve also operates several highly respected institutes and centers dedicated to interdisciplinary research in areas such as biomedicine, energy policy, globalization studies, materials science, social work practice innovation lab & technology commercialization center . Notable alumni include astronauts Karen Nyberg (MS ‘88) and Michael Lopez-Alegria (MS ‘81), Nobel Prize winners Paul Lauterbur (PhD ‘60) and Charles Townes (PhD ‘39), Emmy Award winner Aaron Sorkin (playwright/screenwriter; BA ‘83), Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (actor; BA ‘00), Grammy Award winner Nancy Wilson (jazz singer; honorary degree recipient), NFL football player Joe Thomas (BSE/MSE ’07), CEO Ursula Burns (first African American woman to head a Fortune 500 company – Xerox Corporation).
