Eunuch

Eunuch (/ˈjuːnək/; Ancient Greek: εὐνοῦχος) is a man who has been castrated, typically early enough in his life for this change to have major hormonal consequences. Historically, many eunuchs served as harem guards, servants, and slave traders in the Muslim world. The word “eunuch” comes from the Greek word eunoukhos, first attested in a fragment of Hipponax, c. 6th century BC (εὔνουξ Ὀδρήστριας / énuks Odrḗstrian), meaning ‘bedding keeper’ or ‘one who keeps the couches clean’.
