European Society For Medical Oncology

The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) is the leading professional organization for medical oncologists in Europe. With more than 15,000 members from over 130 countries, ESMO is the voice of European oncology.

ESMO’s main objective is to promote excellence in patient care and cancer research through educational and scientific programmes and activities. We achieve this by:

•Advocating high quality standards of care for cancer patients;
•Fostering translational research that will improve clinical practice;
•Providing a forum for debate and exchange between oncologists and other health-care professionals involved in cancer management;
•Influencing health policy decisions that impact on cancer care;
•Supporting the professional development of young medical oncologists.

ESMO was founded in 1975 and today has 11 constituent member societies representing 33 European countries.
