Hera is the goddess of women, marriage, family, and childbirth in ancient Greek religion and mythology. She is the daughter of Cronus and Rhea, and the sister of Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, Hestia, and Zeus. Hera married Zeus and became the queen of Olympus.
As the patron goddess of marriage and childbirth, Hera was responsible for protecting women during these vulnerable times. She was also known for her jealous nature – especially when it came to her husband’s infidelities – which led to her being known as the “Queen of Heaven”.
Hera was an important figure in both religion and mythology. In religion, she represented the ideal wife and mother who upheld traditional values. In mythology, she was often portrayed as a vengeful goddess who punished those who crossed her or betrayed her trust.
