The infralimbic cortex is a region of the brain that is important for regulating emotion. It is located in the medial prefrontal cortex, just below the anterior cingulate cortex. The infralimbic cortex is thought to be involved in emotional processing, including the experience of fear and anxiety. This region of the brain has also been implicated in memory, decision-making, and social cognition.
