The Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC) is a public research institute dedicated to astrophysical research. It is part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the largest public research institution in Spain. The IAA was founded in 1965, and its headquarters are located in Granada, Spain.
The IAA has a staff of over 200 scientists, engineers, and support personnel. Its facilities include the 3.5m telescope at Calar Alto Observatory, one of the largest optical telescopes in Europe; the 1m JGT at Sierra Nevada Observatory; and the 0.4m robotic telescope at La Silla Observatory in Chile. The IAA also operates two radio telescopes: the 30m radio telescope at Yebes Observatory and the 12m radio telescope at Noto Observatory.
The scientific output of the IAA includes more than 2200 papers published in international refereed journals over the last five years. The IAA is internationally recognized for its contributions to astrophysical research, particularly in areas such as star formation, planetary science, solar physics, and cosmology.
