Jackson School Of Geosciences is a research institute focused on the study of Earth and space sciences. It is located at The University of Texas at Austin in the United States. The school offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in geosciences, as well as a number of interdisciplinary programs. The school also houses several research centers and institutes, including the Institute for Geophysics, the Bureau of Economic Geology, and the Center for Space Research.
The Jackson School Of Geosciences was founded in 1876 as the Geological Survey of Texas. It was renamed in honor of Andrew Jackson Houston, a former governor of Texas and president of The University of Texas at Austin. The school began offering graduate degrees in geology in 1909 and became a part of The University of Texas System in 1947.
Today, the school is home to more than 70 faculty members and over 1,200 students from around the world. The school’s research interests include atmospheric science, climate change, energy resources, environmental science, geological hazards, paleontology, planetary science, and water resources. In addition to its academic programs, the Jackson School Of Geosciences also offers public outreach programs and professional development opportunities for educators.
