The Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs (JSAD) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. It covers research on alcohol, drugs of abuse, and related topics. The journal was established in 1940 as the Quarterly Journal of Studies on Alcohol, and obtained its current name in 1978. The editor-in-chief is Raymond F. Anton (Medical University of South Carolina).

JSAD publishes original research articles, reviews, brief reports, commentaries, editorials, and letters to the editor. Stand-alone special issues devoted to a specific topic are also occasionally published. The journal is abstracted and indexed in MEDLINE/PubMed and the Social Sciences Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, JSAD has a 2016 impact factor of 2.741, ranking it 11th out of 51 journals in the category “Substance Abuse”.

JSAD was established in 1940 as the Quarterly Journal of Studies on Alcohol (QJSA), with Mark Keller Levinson as its first editor. In 1978, QJSA was renamed as the Journal of Studies on Alcohol (JSA). In order to reflect the increasing coverage of drugs other than alcohol in its pages, JSA was renamed again in 1998 as the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs (JSAD).
