Kipac is a scientific research institute affiliated with Stanford University and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. Kipac’s research focuses on theoretical astrophysics, cosmology, particle physics, and accelerator physics.
Founded in 2002, Kipac has grown to become one of the world’s leading centers for theoretical astrophysics and cosmology research. Kipac scientists are leaders in a wide range of fields, from dark matter and dark energy studies to the search for new fundamental particles and forces. They develop innovative theories and computational tools to interpret astronomical observations, probe the mysteries of the cosmos, and test our understanding of the laws of physics.
Kipac is also home to two world-class experimental facilities: The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) project office, which is developing an unprecedented ground-based survey telescope; and NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope Science Support Center (FSSC), which coordinates science operations for this groundbreaking space observatory.
