Lund University (Swedish: Lunds universitet) is a public university in Lund, Sweden. It was established in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The university has nine faculties, with over 100 departments and research centres, and offers programmes leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral degrees in various fields of study.
Lund University has a strong international profile and collaborates with 400 partner universities in more than 50 countries. It attracts students from all over the world – almost 20 percent of its student body are international students. The university offers a wide range of courses and programmes, many of which are taught in English.
The main campus is located in central Lund, just minutes away from lively shopping streets and student life. The city of Lund is home to some 120 000 people, making it one of Sweden’s largest cities – yet it still retains a small-town feel. It is an attractive place to live and work, with green parks, excellent public transport connections and a vibrant cultural scene.
Lund University was founded in 1666 as Sweden’s first higher education institution open to all regardless of social background or gender. This makes us one of the oldest universities in northern Europe – but our history does not make us old-fashioned! Quite the opposite: we are constantly renewing ourselves and adapting our teaching and research to meet the needs of society.
