Midwestern University is a comprehensive university that offers both undergraduate and graduate programs. The university is located in the Midwestern United States and enrolls students from all over the world. The campus covers over 1,300 acres (5.3 km2) of land and includes several buildings, such as the Main Building, which houses the offices of the president and vice presidents, as well as classrooms and laboratories. Other notable buildings on campus include the Library, which contains over one million books; the Student Union, which houses a variety of student organizations; and the Athletic Complex, which contains an indoor track, basketball courts, and a swimming pool.

The university was founded in 1854 by Dr. Levi Cooper Lane as the Illinois Medical College. It was later renamed to Midwestern University after it expanded its curriculum to include other sciences besides medicine. Today, Midwestern University is home to six colleges: College of Medicine & Life Sciences, College of Dental Medicine & Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, College of Graduate Studies & Research
