The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Ames Research Center is responsible for developing and managing many of the agency’s space science programs, projects, and missions. One of its primary goals is to search for and find evidence of life beyond Earth.
NASA Ames also has a long history of developing technology for use in space exploration. In recent years, the center has been working on developing new spacecraft propulsion systems, habitation modules, and other technologies needed to enable humans to explore deep space.
The center is home to several unique facilities, including the world’s largest wind tunnel complex and the Space Shop where engineers and technicians build hardware for NASA missions. Ames is also responsible for operating the agency’s fleet of research aircraft.
