Nix (1932 – ) is a Soviet and Russian scientist in the field of nuclear physics and reactor construction, Doctor of Technical Sciences (1966), Professor (1968), Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1989). He is the author of over 200 scientific papers.

Nix was born on December 21, 1932, in Moscow. In 1955 he graduated from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology with a degree in engineering and physics. From 1955 to 1957 he worked at the Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy. In 1957 he was drafted into the Soviet Army, where he served until 1959. From 1959 to 1961 Nix worked at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute for Experimental Physics in Sarov.

In 1961 Nix began working at the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, where he held various positions including lead engineer, deputy chief designer, and chief designer. He was responsible for designing several nuclear reactors including the RBMK-1000 reactor which was used at Chernobyl.

In 1986 Nix was awarded the USSR State Prize for his work on developing nuclear power plants. He has also been awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, and numerous other medals and honorary titles.
