Science Network Western Australia (SciNetWA) is a not-for-profit organisation that promotes and supports the scientific community in Western Australia. We are the peak body for scientific organisations in WA, representing over 60 member organisations including universities, government agencies, learned societies, museums and galleries. SciNetWA also has an extensive range of corporate members from industry and business.
SciNetWA’s vision is “A world where science inspires and informs decisions” and our mission is to “Connect, Promote and Support WA’s Science Community”. We aim to achieve this by:
* Connecting scientists with each other and with decision makers;
* Promoting the value of science to society;
* Supporting the development of WA’s science community.
SciNetWA was established in 2006, following recognition of the need for a centralised voice to represent the interests of the state’s scientific community. Our first Chair was Nobel Laureate Professor Brian Schmidt AC FRS FAA, who served until 2013. We are currently led by our President, Dr Chubb mbE FRS FAA FTSE, who took up the position in 2014.
