Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) is a public research university in Sheffield, England. It is the 11th largest university in the United Kingdom with over 32,000 students and 4,000 staff. The university is one of the country’s leading providers of health-care education and research.

The history of Sheffield Hallam University can be traced back to 1843 when the Sheffield School of Medicine was founded. In 1897, the school became part of the University of Sheffield. In 1974, SHU was established as an independent institution after receiving its royal charter.

SHU has eight faculties: Arts and Humanities; Business and Law; Education, Health and Community; Engineering and Technology; Information School; Life Sciences and Environment; Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions; Social Sciences. The university offers over 700 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and professional level.

Research is a key priority for SHU with over £50 million invested annually. The university has world-leading researchers across a range of disciplines including health care, materials science, engineering, social sciences and humanities. SHU has been ranked as one of the top 100 universities worldwide for employability by Times Higher Education (THE).

The main campus of Sheffield Hallam University is located in the city centre with additional sites in Broomhall, Collegiate Crescent Campus
