The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is an autonomous university in Singapore. It was established in 2009 as Singapore’s fourth public university, and became the first institution outside North America to be accredited by both the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). SUTD offers undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE), Bachelor of Science (BS), or Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, Art and Media (BAAAM) degrees. The BSE program is accredited by ABET. SUTD also offers graduate programs leading to the Master of Science in Engineering (MSE), Master of Architecture (MA), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.

SUTD has four schools: School of Engineering, School of Infrastructure, School of Information Systems Technology and Design, and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The university has partnerships with renowned institutions such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for its educational pedagogy, Zhejiang University for double degree programs, China Construction Bank Corporate University for finance-related courses,Singapore Management Universityfor business analytics courses, as well as Nanyang Technological University and National Universityof Singaporefor research collaboration. SUTD also operates a satellite campus at Changi Prison Complex to provide offenders with skills training that may lead to employment opportunities upon their release.

The admissions exercise for prospective students wishing to enter SUTD is known as Direct Admissions Exercise – Joint Admissions Exercise(DAE-JAE). Through DAE-JAE, students are considered based on their GCE ‘A’ level results or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme results. In 2018, over 14000 applications were received through DAE-JAE , out which only 1200 applicants were offered places in various programs offered by SUTD due to high competition . For admission into an undergraduate program at SUTD via DAE-JAE , students must have satisfactorily completed 10 years of formal education , with a minimum GCE ‘O’ Level score/International Baccalaureate Diploma score equivalent to a C6 grade . Successful applicants will then be required to attend a two-day mandatory Orientation Program held before term starts . After which they will undergo foundation studies comprising two semesters where they will explore different engineering disciplines before deciding on their specialization . Upon successful completion , students can progress onto their chosen majors where they will spend another two years completing their coursework . Students have the opportunity to study abroad at one of SUTDs partner universities during their second year if they meet the necessary requirements . All undergraduate students are required to complete an industry internship lasting at least eight weeks before they can graduate from SUTD .

S UTDs main campus is located at 8 Somapah Road next to Upper Thomson MRT station. The campus occupies approximately 5 hectaresand comprises five blocks: Block 1A houses general academic facilities such as lecture theatresand seminar rooms; Block 2A contains studiosand workshops; Blocks 3A & 3B house academic officesand research laboratories; while Block 4 houses residential hallsfor undergraduatesand international postgraduate studentsas well as recreational facilities suchas F&B outletsand a gymnasium. A 6th block – called phase 2 – is currently under construction behind Block 4 & 5 which when completed in 2020 , will add more academic space & increase student capacity from 3000to 4000 .
