Stevens Institute of Technology (SIT) is a private research university in Hoboken, New Jersey. Founded in 1870, Stevens Institute of Technology is one of the oldest and largest technological universities in the United States, with over 6,000 students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. The university is organized into seven schools: School of Engineering & Science; Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Construction Management; Howe School of Technology Management; Canavan Scholarly Commons; Wesley J. Howe Center for Graduate Studies; DeBaun Center for Bioethics and Social Entrepreneurship; and the Hanlon Financial Systems Laboratory.

The school was founded to “advance learning and knowledge by providing an environment conducive to intellectual growth and by offering courses leading to useful degrees.” The school’s founding brothers were Francis Lowell Stevens (for whom the institute is named) and Edwin Augustus Stevens (the institute’s first president). The campus today spans 55 acres (223,000 m²) along the Hudson River waterfront in Hoboken just across from lower Manhattan. In 2017–18, there were 2336 full-time students enrolled at Stevens on six different continents pursuing bachelor’s degrees as well as 449 graduate students enrolled in 20 different masters programs and 275 doctorate candidates engaged in interdisciplinary research. The university also offers online education through its Global Online program which enrolls about 3200 full-time students from around the world.

In 2020 Times Higher Education ranked Stevens Institute of Technology 9th among all U.S. colleges and universities for employability while U.S News & World Report placed it 54th among all national universities. Additionally Forbes magazine ranked it 182nd among all American colleges and universities, 243rd globally, 305th in business/management,,and 350th overall in their America’s Top Colleges 2019 list.. It has been ranked No 1 University for producing millionaires among public or private institutions without a medical school according to CNBC ranking released July 2020. According to Business Insider’s rankings released September 2019 SIT was listed as one of top 50 best value colleges nationwide. Also Niche included Stevens on several lists including being 14th most diverse college campus,, 19th best college town in America ,20th safest college campus, 29th best electrical engineering school, 32nd Best Value Colleges for Engineering Majors, 33rd friendliest college campuses , 37th best computer science program . And WalletHub placed it at 43rd position out 750 schools considered nation wide for return on investment.

Stevens Institute of Technology has been historically known for its focus on innovation and entrepreneurship with alumni having started over 140 companies including Twitter, eBay, Reddit, Snapchat, Verizon Wireless, HubSpot , AT&T Bell Labs , Qualcomm , Oracle Corporation . Notable current faculty include Finn Caspersen (former CEOof Beneficial Corporation ), James Owers ( Chairmen & CEO AECOM ), Timothy Healy ( former Chairman & CEO Edison International ). As per Princeton Review ‘s 2019 “The Best 385 Colleges” edition SIT was listed as having 8th most competitive admission process , 10th happiest students , 12 Hardestworking students 16 Most Beautiful Campus 25 Dorm Rooms Like Palaces . In terms of research contributions according to Webometrics Ranking Of World Universities 2020 SIT was ranked 401-500 globally .
