The Company of Biologists is an international scientific society dedicated to the promotion and advancement of biological research. It was founded in 1876 by a group of leading biologists from across Europe and America, and today its membership includes over 1,700 scientists from more than 60 countries. The Society publishes four highly respected peer-reviewed journals – Development, Journal of Cell Science, The Journal of Experimental Biology and Disease Models & Mechanisms – as well as a range of other books, meeting reports and newsletters. The Society also organises regular conferences and other events to support the work of its members and to communicate the latest advances in biology to a wider audience.
