Ttg

Ttg

The ttg gene is a member of the tumor suppressor gene family. The protein encoded by this gene is a zinc finger transcription factor that binds to the promoter region of the p16INK4a tumor suppressor gene and represses its expression. This protein also binds to and represses the expression of the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1A (CDKN1A) gene. Mutations in this gene are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B (MEN2B), an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by medullary thyroid cancer, pheochromocytoma, and parathyroid adenoma. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
