The U S Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is a research and development organization of the United States Army. ARL is responsible for the development of technology for the Army in support of its mission. The laboratory’s work is primarily focused on improving Soldier performance and providing innovative solutions to Soldiers’ problems. ARL scientists and engineers conduct basic and applied research in many areas, including: Soldier systems; ground vehicles; weapons systems; materials science; electronics; information science & technology; sensors & optics; survivability & protection; directed energy & laser science; propulsion & energetics; manufacturing technology & process engineering.
