In addition to its hospitals, UNC Heath Care’s provider network includes more than 1,100 physicians and other clinicians across the state. Many of these providers are members of CarolinasHealthCare System Blue Ridge – one of the largest clinical affiliation networks affiliated with an academic medical center. The system also has several joint ventured facilities including: Chatham Hospital – A 60-bed facility located between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro that provides general acute care services.; The Women’s Pavilion at Raleigh – A 27-bed women’s specialty hospital jointly owned with WakeMed;; Nash Day Surgery Center – A ambulatory surgery center co-owned with Nash General Hospital;; Johnston Ambulatory Surgery Center – An ambulatory surgery jointly owned with Johnston Memorial Hospital .
UNC Heath Care is governed by a 16-member Board of Directors appointed by the Governor of North Carolina. The CEO is Dr. William Roper who reports to the Board.
