The University of Alberta (also known as UAlberta or simply UA) is a public research university located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was founded in 1908 by Alexander Cameron Rutherford, the first premier of Alberta, and Henry Marshall Tory, its first president. Its enabling legislation is the Post-secondary Learning Act.

The university comprises four campuses in Edmonton—North Campus, South Campus, and the main campus at Enterprise Square—and a fifth in Camrose. The main campus houses five faculties: Arts, Science, Business, Education, and Engineering. The university also has two affiliated colleges on its main campus: Native Studies and Augustana Faculty of Fine Arts and Sciences.

UA’s varsity teams are nicknamed the Golden Bears and compete in the U Sports conference of Canadian Interuniversity Sport.
