University Of Maryland is one of the leading public research universities in the United States. Located in College Park, Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C., it is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU). The university enrolls over 37,000 students across its 12 schools and colleges, which offer more than 200 undergraduate majors as well as graduate degrees in a wide range of disciplines.

Founded in 1856 as the Maryland Agricultural College, the institution was originally chartered to provide education and training in agriculture and related fields. In 1916, it became part of the University System of Maryland and was renamed the University of Maryland at College Park. Over the course of its history, the university has been home to numerous groundbreaking research programs and has produced many notable alumni, including six Nobel laureates.
