The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is a public research university located in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. UMKC is one of four universities in the University of Missouri System and one of only two with a medical school. It is also the largest university in Kansas City and the third largest in Missouri.

UMKC was founded in 1929 as the result of a merger between the University of Kansas City and Western Dental College. The new institution initially consisted of five schools: Arts and Sciences, Business, Dentistry, Education, and Law. In 1971, UMKC added a sixth school when it merged with the nearby Hospital Hill campus to form the School of Medicine.
