The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a national research university in Hefei, Anhui Province, China. It is a member of the C9 League, known as the Chinese Ivy League. Founded in 1958, it is also one of China’s oldest universities. USTC was founded with the mission to rejuvenate China through science and education and has produced many notable alumni including Nobel laureates Chu Yuan-tseh and Tsung-Dao Lee.

USTC consists of 28 schools, 64 departments, 107 research institutes, and 4 affiliated hospitals. The university offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees in a wide variety of subjects ranging from engineering to liberal arts. USTC also offers joint programs with other Chinese universities as well as with foreign institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. In total, there are over 40 thousand students enrolled at USTC including both undergraduate and graduate students.

The campus of USTC covers an area of 2 square kilometers and includes several modern buildings for teaching and research purposes as well as student housing. Facilities on campus include a library with over 3 million volumes, an auditorium that can seat up to 1 thousand people, and various sports facilities. Additionally, USTC operates several field stations for astronomical observations and atmospheric studies.
