The University of Southern Denmark is a public university located in Odense, Denmark. It was established in 1966 and currently has over 21,000 students, 1,200 employees and 130 study programmes. The University of Southern Denmark offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes in a wide range of disciplines including engineering, natural sciences, social sciences, health sciences and business. The University of Southern Denmark is an internationally oriented university with a strong focus on research and education. The University of Southern Denmark has a wide range of international partners and offers a number of programmes taught entirely in English.

The University of Southern Denmark was founded in 1966 with the merger of Odense State College (established 1946) and the South Jutland Counties’ Higher Education Institution (established 1959). The name was changed to the University of Southern Denmark in 1998.The main campus is located in Odense with additional campuses located in Kolding and Esbjerg .

The University of Southern Denmark is organised into five faculties:
* Faculty of Engineering
* Faculty of Business and Social Sciences
* Faculty Of Health Sciences
* Faculty Of Humanities
* Faculty Of Science

Each faculty offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes. In addition to this, the university also offers a number og specialised graduate schools . Research at the University of Southern Denmark covers a broad range og topics within each faculty as well as interdisciplinary research . There are eight centres for excellence at the university which conduct world-leading research within their respective fields: Centre for Neuropsychiatric Schizophrenia Research Centre for Basic Metabolic Research NanoSYD – Nanotechnology Systems Development Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute for Production Technology Centre for Sustainability Center for Ocean Life SCIENCE – Danish National Graduate School SYDDOC – Graduate school for general practitioners training

The university has an extensive network or national an international partnerships which support its educational an researcher activities . These partnerships provide opportunities or students to spend time abroad as part or their studies as well as enabling researchers to collaborate with colleagues from other institutions .
