University of Stirling is a public research university located in Scotland. Founded in 1967, it was the first new university to be established in Scotland for over 400 years. The university has six main academic schools: Arts and Humanities; Biological and Environmental Sciences; Business, Economics and Leadership; Education, Sport and Exercise; Engineering and Physical Sciences; Health Sciences and Social Care. The university also has a number of research institutes and centres, including the Scottish Centre for Rural Research, the Institute for Aquaculture, the Institute for Energy Systems, the Maxwell Centre for Innovation Management Studies and the Centre for Security Research.

The University of Stirling was ranked 5th in Scotland and 40th in the UK in The Guardian University Guide 2020. It is also ranked 1st in Scotland for employability according to Times Higher Education’s ‘Table of Excellence’. In 2019/20, there were 1626 staff employed by the University of Stirling (full-time equivalent). Of these staff, 41% were academic staff (teaching or research), 13% were professional services staff  and 46% were support staff. There are currently around 12000 students enrolled at the University of Stirling from more than 100 countries worldwide.

The University of Stirling offers a wide range of undergraduate programmes across its six main academic schools. These include arts and humanities programmes such as English Literature, History  and Philosophy; biological sciences programmes such as Biology  and Ecology; business programmes such as Accounting  and Finance, Economics  and Marketing; education programmes such as Primary Education with QTS  and Sport Science; engineering programmes such as Civil Engineering  and Electronic & Electrical Engineering; health sciences programmes such as Nursing ‌& Midwifery ‌and Psychology. In addition to these undergraduate programmes, the university also offers a number of postgraduate taught courses and research degrees.

The University of Stirling has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Its graduates are highly sought after by employers both in the UK and overseas. The university is also home to a number of world-leading researchers who are working on cutting-edge projects that are making a real difference to people’s lives.
