The University of Wyoming is a public research university located in Laramie, Wyoming. Founded in March 1886, it is the oldest and largest university in the state of Wyoming. The university consists of seven colleges: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, and Law.
With an enrollment of over 12,000 students from all 50 states and 90 countries, UW’s student body is one of the most diverse in the nation. The school’s academic programs are also highly respected – UW was ranked tied for 107th among public universities by U.S. News & World Report in 2019. Notable alumni include former Vice President Dick Cheney, Nobel Prize-winning physicist John A. Wheeler, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annie Proulx, NFL Hall of Famer Jay Novacek, and Olympic gold medalist Rulon Gardner.
UW’s campus is located at the base of the Snowy Range mountains in Laramie – just a short drive from Rocky Mountain National Park.
