Waseda University is a comprehensive research university located in Tokyo, Japan. The university was established in 1882 by Miyaji Iwanari and Yukichi Fukuzawa as the Tokyo School of Political Science and Economics. It is the largest private university in Japan, with over 50,000 students enrolled at its main campus in Shinjuku and other campuses across the country. Waseda University is consistently ranked amongst the top universities in Japan and Asia, and is one of the select group of Japanese universities to be part of the Global 30 project.

The university’s strengths lie in its commitment to research and education, with over 4,000 faculty members engaged in teaching and research across a wide range of disciplines. Waseda has produced many notable alumni, including four Prime Ministers of Japan, numerous CEOs and presidents of major Japanese companies, several Nobel laureates, and countless politicians, diplomats, journalists, artists and entertainers.
