Wave Function

Wave Function

In physics, the wave function is a mathematical description of the state of a quantum mechanical system. The wave function can be used to calculate the probability amplitude for the system to be in a certain state, and it contains all the information that can be known about a quantum system. The wave function is also used to describe the behavior of particles in classical mechanics, although in this case it is often called the phase space density.
