Windows is a computer operating system created by Microsoft. It was first released in 1985, and has since been regularly updated. As of 2019, the latest version is Windows 10.

Windows is a graphical operating system, which means that it uses a graphical user interface (GUI). This makes it easy to use for many people, as it is more visual than text-based operating systems such as DOS.

Microsoft produces several versions of Windows for different types of users. The most popular versions are Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro. These are designed for general home users and small businesses respectively. There are also versions of Windows designed for specific purposes such as gaming (Windows 10 Gaming), education (Windows 10 Education), and enterprise (Windows 10 Enterprise).

Over the years, Microsoft has added many features to Windows to make it more user-friendly and functional. Some of these include the Start menu, taskbar, notification area, and desktop shortcuts. More recent additions include the Edge browser, Cortana digital assistant, and Live Tiles on the Start menu.
