Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, is one of the nation’s leading research universities. It is also a comprehensive university offering programs in science, engineering, business, architecture, humanities and social sciences.
Founded in 1958, WUT has developed into a modernized institution with an international reputation. The university now has four campuses covering an area of over 1 million square meters and a total student body of over 50,000 including more than 10,000 graduate students.
WUT has been ranked as one of the top 100 universities in China and top 500 universities in the world by various organizations. In particular, it was ranked 401-500th globally by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020 and 351-400th by QS World University Rankings 2020.

The university has set up 17 state key laboratories & engineering centers which are designated by the Chinese government as bases for advanced studies and cutting-edge technological innovation. There are also 5 national engineering research centers on campus. In recent years, WUT’s faculties and researchers have made significant achievements in various fields such as materials science & engineering, information technology & automation, energy & environment protection etc., winning many awards both at home and abroad including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars ,the National Natural Science Award(Second Prize) ,the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress 、the International Energy Agency Hydrogen Implementing Agreement Projects Awards etc.. So far the university has produced 4 Nobel laureates，1 Fields Medalist，4 Turing Award winners，and 1 Croucher Senior Research Fellowship recipient . All these have together contributed to enhancing WUT’s international visibility and influence .
To meet the challenges posed by globalization of higher education , WUT actively develops partnerships with overseas institutions . Up to now ,it has established cooperative relationships with more than 320 institutions from over 50 countries or regions around the world . These include joint education programs , dual degree programs , short-term exchange programs etc.. For instance , there are currently 11 Sino-foreign cooperative education programs jointly run by WUT with foreign partner institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University （USA）、University Of Wisconsin-Madison （USA）、Technical University Of Munich （Germany）and so forth . Students enrolled in these programs will receive diplomas from both Chinese and foreign institutions upon graduation .
In addition to its commitment to high-quality teaching ,research and international cooperation & exchanges ,Wuhan University Of Technology is also actively engaged in public service activities that benefit local communities . Every year since 2008 ,the university has organized “Green Campuses — Clean Rivers” campaigns which aim to improve environmental awareness among students through hands-on experience .The campaign involves tree planting along riverside areas near campuses as well as rubbish collection & recycling activities etc.. So far nearly 30 kilometers of riverbanks have been planted with trees through this campaign . In 2019 alone ,over 10 thousand volunteers from W UT took part in this eventful activity which not only beautified surrounding environments but also helped protect local ecological systems
