Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a public research university located in the urban coastal city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The university was founded in 1989 as part of an initiative to deliver higher education within the state of Queensland. QUT is one of three universities in the state, and is the only one located in Brisbane.
QUT has five campuses: Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove, Caboolture, Logan and Redlands. The university offers more than 300 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate courses, with a strong focus on practical and applied learning. QUT also has a number of research institutes and centres, including the Institute for Future Environments and the Centre for Accident Research & Road Safety – Queensland (CARRS-Q).
As a research-intensive university, QUT undertakes a broad range of research activities across all disciplines. The university has particular strengths in areas such as health care delivery innovation; environmental change; energy systems; social media analytics; intelligent transport systems; biotechnology; advanced manufacturing; construction management; information technology law and policy; sustainability transitions; digital humanities; Indigenous knowledges and histories. QUT is also home to one of Australia’s leading business incubators – Creative Enterprise Australia (CEA).
QUT ranks highly in national and international league tables.
