The University of South Australia researchers are sounding the alarm, calling for exercise to be an integral part of managing depression. According to a new study, physical activity is over 1.5 times more effective than counseling or the most popular medications for the condition.
According to the research presented, exercise is more effective than medications or counseling in managing depression. Numerous studies have shown that physical activity can help improve mood, increase energy, and reduce symptoms of depression. In fact, a study published in the “Journal of the American Medical Association” found that people who exercised for 30 minutes or more every day had a 33% lower risk of major depression than people who did not engage in physical activity.
Although more research is needed, these findings suggest that exercise is an important tool for managing depression and should be considered by anyone seeking relief from the condition.
