American University

American University (AU) is a private research university located in Washington, D.C., United States. It was founded in 1893 by an Act of Congress, making it one of the oldest universities in the country and among the first federally chartered institutions of higher learning to be established within a major American city. Today, AU enrolls nearly 14,000 students across its ten schools and colleges: College of Arts & Sciences; School of International Service; Kogod School of Business; School of Communication; School of Education; Antonin Scalia Law School; SPA Graduate Program in Public Policy and Administration; The Center for Environmental Studies at American University’s Main Campus & Tenley Campus – Washington Semester Program; Schools Abroad – Paris/Madrid/Rome/Beijing/Buenos Aires/Seoul Programs All-University Honors Program.

The university’s curriculum focuses on interdisciplinary studies that emphasize international engagement through education exchange programs with over 100 countries around the world. Students are encouraged to gain global perspective from their experiences abroad as well as engage in service learning projects that help develop their leadership skills while also bringing benefit to local communities. In addition to numerous study abroad opportunities offered throughout the year, AU also offers several online degree programs since 2009 through its eCampus initiative giving students greater flexibility when pursuing their educational goals.

American University has been consistently ranked among some of the best universities worldwide by publications such as U.S News & World Report’s Best Colleges Rankings (2021). Additionally, many current or former faculty members have gone on to win awards including National Humanities Medals and Nobel Prizes for accomplishments made during their tenure at AU further demonstrating its excellence in teaching and research capabilities..

Furthermore, American University has long been known as a leader among college campuses when it comes to sustainability initiatives such as energy conservation efforts or green building practices like LEED certification standards which help reduce carbon emissions into our atmosphere .
