Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) is a leading Russian university located in Vladivostok, the capital of the Primorsky Krai region. FEFU was founded in 1899 as the Eastern Branch of the Imperial Russian Technical Society and became a full-fledged university in 1956. Today, FEFU comprises 9 schools and offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in over 60 areas of study.
With nearly 20,000 students enrolled, FEFU is one of the largest universities in Russia. The university has a strong international focus and collaborates with over 400 partner universities around the world. Additionally, FEFU runs various international programs such as Summer School at FEFU and Far Eastern LEONARDO da VINCI mobility program.
FEFU is consistently ranked among the top Russian universities. In 2020, it was ranked 4th in the country by Interfax Ranking Agency and 5th by RAEX Rating Agency. The university is also included in THE World University Rankings 2021 and QS World University Rankings 2022.
The research conducted at FEFU covers a wide range of topics spanning natural sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, medical sciences, etc. Over 2/3rds of all publications by FEFU scientists are co-authored with colleagues from other countries which highlights the international nature of its research Output. In recent years, several major discoveries have been made at FEFU including a new type of magnetic material and a new way to produce graphene nanoribbons.
