Liver is a large, reddish-brown organ that lies in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen. The liver has many functions, including filtering toxins from the blood and producing bile to help with digestion. Liver disease can be caused by a variety of factors, including viruses, alcohol abuse, and fatty foods. Symptoms of liver disease include fatigue, weight loss, and yellowing of the skin (jaundice). Treatment for liver disease depends on the cause but may involve medications, surgery, or a transplant.
