Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Testbed is a multi-mission space communications test facility that provides end-to-end testing of advanced communications and navigation payloads and systems for NASA missions. The SCaN Testbed is located at NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
The SCaN Testbed consists of three primary elements: the Space Network Ground Terminal (SNGT), the Deep Space Network station at White Sands, New Mexico (DSN-W), and the Air Force Satellite Control Network station at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado (AFSCN). The SNGT is a ground terminal that provides uplink and downlink capabilities for multiple spacecraft simultaneously. The DSN-Wstation provides deep space tracking, telemetry, and command (TT&C) support for interplanetary spacecraft. The AFSCNNode 2 ground station provides TT&C support for near Earth spacecraft.
The SCaN Testbed has supported over 50 different missions since its inception in 1997, including:
* Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter
* Mars Science Laboratory
* Juno Mission to Jupiter
* Kepler Mission
* Van Allen Probes
